Due to the long distances involved, even with a spotting scope it is not possible to see accurately  where the bullet has struck and been marked with the spotting disk. To allow for accurate marking a board is hung along the bottom of the target frame to indicate the value of the hit. i.e.  an orange board hung on the bottom right hand corner would indicate a V Bull; the very centre of the target. The bottom right hand corner but with a black board would be a Bull
